Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced practitioners interested in developing their safeguarding skills within an established service. Based at Wythenshawe Hospital, part-time applications will be considered.
You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze and record information concisely, work under pressure, and adapt to priorities within tight deadlines. Support for professional development in this specialized area will be provided.
We seek a motivated, committed, and flexible practitioner to work with health and multi-agency colleagues to ensure safe services for vulnerable children across Manchester and MFT Hospital Services.
Applicants should be Registered Nurses with a degree or working towards one, with experience in Children’s Safeguarding, and recent experience working directly with children, young people, and families in clinical settings.
Job responsibilities
* Provide consultation, guidance, and support regarding safeguarding and child protection.
* Ensure visibility within clinical settings.
* Support staff involved in safeguarding processes, including Child Protection Conferences and Strategy Meetings.
* Challenge decisions not aligned with guidance, maintaining a child-focused approach.
* Advise and empower practitioners in safeguarding practices.
* Prepare accurate reports and contribute to report quality assurance.
* Maintain appropriate safeguarding documentation.
* Establish links with primary health care, community services, and voluntary organizations.
* Work with clinical teams to disseminate safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Develop safeguarding information materials for children and families.

Person specification
Essential criteria
* RN child or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Minimum 3 years post-registration experience.
* Degree or working towards one.
* Ongoing professional development in safeguarding to at least Level 3.
* Knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation, and practices.
* Experience in safeguarding supervision and delivering training.
* Understanding of issues affecting diverse and socially excluded groups.
* Knowledge of child health, development, and maltreatment impacts.
* Critical thinking and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Basic IT skills.
* Ability to challenge appropriately and work under pressure.
Desirable criteria
* Specialist Practitioner Public Health qualification.
* Mentoring or teaching qualifications.
* Experience in policy development.
* Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
