About the Role
This is a Sales Applications role at our Bury St Edmunds facility, sitting at the heart of our customer-facing activity for Chalwyn. You’ll support a well‑established global customer base, with a strong presence in the UK and Middle East, helping them select the right engine safety products and keeping their projects moving.
Our customers range from engine OEMs and industrial equipment rental companies to small garages fitting safety systems to cars, trucks and vans.
Customers need technical help selecting products, prompt quotes, and quick delivery. This role handles applications support, quoting and order entry, acting as an advocate for the customer with colleagues. Occasionally, customers need installation training and support.
The Role:
The Sales Applications Engineer provides technical support, quotations and order entry while working cross‑functionally to ensure on‑time delivery. After a period of training, the role will include occasional customer site visits to help with training and installations.
Eventually, the individual will take full responsibility for supporting the Chalwyn customer base and identifying new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing technical support and product selection advice.
* Providing applications and installation support.
* Strong cross-functional advocate for the customer.
* Quoting and order entry.
* Conduct site visits (after training and time served). Hands-on approach may be required.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to drive on-time delivery and problem solving.
* Promote customer and end-user awareness of our products and services. Train as required.
* Negotiate selling prices that meet, or exceed, margin, growth, and volume targets.
* Maintain a sound knowledge of Chalwyn technology and principles.
Additional Functions/Duties:
* Travel as required - this would typically involve short UK visits of 1 to 2 days. This is primarily an internal role, so the travel frequency is not expected to be more than 2 to 3 customer visits per month.
* Some degree of ‘hands-on’ at customer site if required.
* Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Technical mindset combined with a proactive approach to accelerate learning.

* Good cross-functional team player, tenacious and diligent, highly self-motivated.
* Should have good analytical and communication skills.
* Experience of using Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
* Ideally, experience of 2 or more of the following:
* Quoting and order entry
* Applications engineering
* Customer Account Management
* Selling
Education Requirements/Equivalent:
* Ideally a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or technical subject; or equivalent from four-year College or technical school.
* Other technical qualifications (e.g. HND/HNC) or related experience will be considered.
Working Conditions:
Unless travelling, this role is based in the Bury St. Edmunds office.
