Health and Safety Advisor
Salary: Circa £45,000
Location: Waltham Abbey, Essex
Are you passionate about promoting a safe and compliant working environment within the construction industry?
We're supporting a specialist construction company who are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Advisor to join the team. This role will be working closely with the Head of Operations and will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and promote a positive culture of safety within the organisation. The role is predominantly office-based with occasional site visits.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate the development, implementation, and ongoing review of safety policies and procedures, including maintaining Construction Phase Plans and ensuring all documentation is current and compliant.
* Conduct site health and safety inspections and audits, and conduct training where required.
* Maintain accurate health and safety records, including inspections, risk assessments, method statements, and incident reporting (including RIDDOR), tracking actions through to completion.
* Manage and update SSIP accreditation platforms (including Constructionline, SafeContractor, and Alcumus), ensuring all submissions are accurate, up to date, and audit‑ready.
* Provide support across health and safety functions, including organising training, maintaining training records, and supporting internal ISO 45001 audits and annual external audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and ideally hold or work towards a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent).
* Ideally some experience working within the construction or refurbishment sectors.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
* Proficiency in maintaining records, managing contractor documentation, and using safety management systems.
