Job Opportunity: Maintenance Electrician at HMP Leeds
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Maintenance Electrician to join HMP Leeds. The role requires working weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of the basic salary. The Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance within the prison is conducted safely, compliantly, and efficiently.
Standard hours: 39 hours per week, across 7 days with a weekend shift pattern.
Responsibilities include:
1. Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
2. Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
3. Responding to breakdowns promptly, following Safe System of Work protocols.
4. Fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems.
5. Undertaking electrical installation activities per design and IET Wiring Regulations.
6. Testing and inspecting electrical installations according to current regulations.
7. Monitoring and ordering critical spares for electrical services.
Candidate requirements:
* Relevant technical qualification such as City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or higher.
* Knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition (training for upgrade available if only 17th Edition is held).
* Experience in electrical maintenance, distribution, installation, and testing.
* Understanding of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Ability to work at heights.
Desirable but not essential: IT skills, experience with fire alarm systems and CCTV systems. Training will be provided to support development in these areas.
