PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £28,400- £36,800 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the Role:
Vertical Video Journalists are responsible for creating engaging vertical videos for the video playlist, site, and social media, including planned and breaking news carousels. You’ll manage multiple content areas to ensure the best clips reach our audiences.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact:
* Work with colleagues across the BBC and within News to showcase BBC content at its best.
* Engage audiences we currently don’t reach as effectively with vertical video on and off platform.
* Pitch new ideas and creative treatments for the day’s news stories.
* Script, produce, and edit digital videos, guiding correspondents and reporters for online audiences.
* Apply BBC’s editorial guidelines confidently on complex stories.
* This role involves weekend and shift working.
Your Skills and Experience – Essential Criteria:
* Ability to work effectively as part of multiple teams.
* Deliver high-standard content within required timeframes using available resources.
* Understand how to tell stories for diverse audiences, making news accessible and engaging.
* Use audience research and analytics to develop ideas and grow audiences.
* Deep understanding of digital video production tools and techniques used at the BBC.
* Proficient in FCP and/or Adobe Premiere.
* Creative thinking for innovative storytelling in video.
