A well established, design led architecture practice in Scotland is looking to appoint a Senior or Project Architect to take a leading role within its project teams. This is an opportunity for someone who wants real responsibility, long term project involvement and the chance to shape buildings from early design through to delivery on site. The role sits at the heart of the studio’s work and is suited to an architect who enjoys owning projects rather than contributing to isolated stages. The successful candidate will be trusted to lead schemes from briefing and concept development through technical delivery, coordinating consultants, managing client relationships and supporting junior team members along the way. This is not a drawing only role and not a position for someone who wants to stay in the background. They are looking for someone comfortable making decisions, solving problems and representing the practice with confidence. The studio works across complex, large scale projects including healthcare, education, commercial and civic buildings. These are programmes with substance: long design lives, real technical challenges and meaningful public impact. The work requires strong technical ability, a solid understanding of UK building regulations and the confidence to carry design intent through detailed stages without compromise. Experience delivering projects on site, responding to contractor queries and navigating procurement processes will be essential. Design quality matters here. While the work is technically demanding, there is a genuine commitment to architecture that is thoughtful, robust and well resolved. Senior and Project Architects are expected to contribute to design discussions, challenge ideas where appropriate and help maintain a consistent standard across projects. This is a studio where design and delivery are seen as complementary, not competing priorities. The environment is professional, collaborative and adult. Senior staff are trusted to manage their workload, lead teams effectively and mentor less experienced colleagues. In return, they are given autonomy, backing from leadership and the opportunity to grow within the practice. This is a long term role with clear progression for architects who want to deepen their expertise and influence rather than jump between short term moves. They are looking for someone ARB registered with several years post qualification experience, strong Revit capability and a proven track record of delivering complex projects. Just as important is the ability to communicate clearly, manage relationships and remain calm under pressure. A pragmatic mindset, commercial awareness and pride in delivering well built architecture will be key to success. This role would suit an architect who wants stability without stagnation, responsibility without micromanagement and the chance to work on projects that genuinely shape places and communities.
