* Location: Chafford Hundred (Grays/Thurrock area), Essex.
* Pay Rate: GBP90 : GBP110 per day (typically paid via PAYE).
* Agency: Randstad Education.
* Role Type: Temporary/Contract (often with daily supply or long:term options).
As a Cover Supervisor, you are responsible for the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. Unlike a supply teacher, you are not required to plan lessons.
* Supervision: Leading classes (usually Key Stage 3 and 4) using pre:prepared lesson plans left by the department.
* Behaviour Management: Maintaining a positive and focused learning environment using the schools specific behaviour policy.
* Guidance: Helping students stay on task and answering general questions about the work provided.
* Reporting: Providing feedback to the schools Cover Manager or the returning teacher regarding student progress and any incidents.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience: Previous experience working with young people (coaching, youth work, or school:based experience) is essential.
* Education: A degree is often preferred (ideal for aspiring teachers), but strong GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) are required.
* Compliance: An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service is mandatory (Randstad can assist with a new application if needed).
* Attributes: You must be confident, resilient, and able to command a room with a firm but fair approach.
