Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Reader/Senior Lecturer (Research & Education) to join the School of Biological Sciences, leading and undertaking world-class research in Parasitology.
The School of Biological Sciences, together with the Institute of Global Food Security, offers a vibrant research environment, conducting globally competitive research that addresses major challenges. We are recognized for our research excellence, ranked number 1 in the UK for research quality in the REF 2021 (UoA 6).
The ideal candidate should work at the Big Data / Parasitology interface, demonstrating excellent productivity in modelling and/or bioinformatics related to parasitology. This could include systems biology/informatics approaches to understand parasite biology, evolution, or parasite-host interactions; or modelling approaches relevant to human and animal parasitic infections within a one health framework. Queen’s provides access to advanced infrastructure in molecular, genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic research.
The successful candidate will enhance our research and teaching excellence, establishing independent, funded research programs and contributing to curriculum development. They will support high-quality student engagement, utilizing digital platforms.
About the person:
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
* An Honours degree or equivalent in Parasitology or a related field.
* A PhD or equivalent in a relevant area.
* Completion of a PGCHET (or equivalent) or HEA membership.
* Research experience in Parasitology aligned with the School and Institute's priorities.
* A record of high-quality publications in international journals.
* Successful research funding experience, including RCUK or other competitive grants as Principal Investigator.
* Experience in developing research methodologies, models, and approaches.

Fixed-term contracts are initially offered for the specified period, with potential renewal or permanency depending on funding.
