Contract Type: Long-term maternity cover
Salary: £95 – £120 per day (dependent on experience)
Working Pattern: Full-time (part-time considered)

TeacherActive is working in partnership with secondary schools in Taunton and the surrounding areas to appoint a reliable and skilled Food Technician for a long-term maternity cover, starting February 2026.
This role offers continuity, stability, and the opportunity to become an integral part of a school department for the duration of the cover.
This role will involve:
Preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for Food Technology lessons
Ensuring the food rooms are clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
Supporting teaching staff during practical lessons
Managing stock levels and ordering supplies where required
Following COSHH, completing risk assessments, and maintaining food hygiene standards
This role is ideal if you:
Have previous experience as a Food Technician or in a food-based environment
Hold relevant health and safety certifications, including Food Hygiene (Level 2 or above)
Have a strong understanding of COSHH and safe food preparation practices
Are organised, reliable, and able to commit to a long-term placement
Are comfortable working within a secondary school environment
