We deliver an authentic and elegant Japanese dining experience with omakase, bento dishes, wagyu specialties, sake cocktails, and Japanese-inspired afternoon tea.
We are now seeking a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team and grow within our high-end Japanese culinary environment.
Position Overview
Role: Commis Chef AKIRA Restaurant
Employment Type: Permanent, London-based
Visa Status: Valid Permanent Right to Work in the UK required (e.g., settled/pre-settled status, Indefinite Leave to Remain)
Salary: Competitive, including service charge (to be discussed at interview)
Key Responsibilities
Assist senior chefs in food preparation, cooking, and presentation, maintaining the highest standards of Japanese culinary tradition.
Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations in the kitchen.
Support daily mise-en-place and ensure smooth kitchen operations during service.
Learn and grow under the guidance of experienced Japanese cuisine chefs, developing skills in traditional and contemporary techniques.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional dining experience for all guests.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years experience working as a Commis Chef in a professional kitchen.
Japanese cuisine experience is desirable but not essential.
Strong interest in Japanese gastronomy and willingness to learn.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual, and a good team player with a positive attitude.
Valid permanent visa/right to work in the UK (essential).
