Overview Location: UK, Brighton (Hybrid, 2-3 days per week in office required) This role does not offer visa or sponsorship support in the UK To fulfil the requirements of our hybrid employment contract you must reside within a 50 mile radius of central Brighton This is a Tax Analyst role within the Go Live Team (Client Onboarding) for Global Returns & Payments Services (GRPS) in Brighton. The Go Live Team handles new clients joining Avalara and in a lot of cases filing VAT obligations for their first time. These clients need a lot of initial guidance on how to provide the data including threshold information and the use of Avalara specified templates. Candidates will be expected to have knowledge of VAT Compliance and reporting in all EU jurisdictions and beyond. Currently studying ATT (or similar) and a good understanding of VAT software packages is also desired. You will be extremely customer focussed with excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain and convey information clearly to clients. Working as part of a team of 8 people reporting directly to the Go Live Team Leader. You will also be responsible for managing your own clients for the filing periods they are allocated to you, ensuring deadlines are achieved and internal systems updated accordingly. Responsibilities Your main responsibility will be to support the knowledge transfer and onboarding process of the new clients with the following tasks: Welcome clients to Avalara and manage client expectations regarding their VAT and filing obligations, providing excellent customer service Request data for current and retrospective VAT returns Analyse data provided, prepare and submit VAT returns Support new clients with compliance and data requirements until their VAT returns have been completed Work closely with colleagues in other geolocations Ensure all submissions are completed on-time, accurately and to Avalara targets on efficiency and profitability Ensure Workflow data and reporting is fully up to date Maintain a profitable revenue from additional time performed on client issues Achieve key KPI and billing targets Assist the Team Lead where required on new clients Manage Tax authorities’ questions on VAT matters Ensure clients are fully onboarded before handed over to the filing team and that both client and Return Managers are fully updated Work closely with CAMs/Sales and clients providing best practice solution for all concerned Qualifications Proven knowledge of VAT Compliance and reporting in EU jurisdictions and beyond Previous experience in VAT returns and filing Good organisation, scheduling, and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong sense of discretion and professionalism Drive to learn more about VAT and automation Entrepreneurial outlook Teamwork-oriented with a strong focus on customer satisfaction Ability to solve problems effectively and follow-through to ensure end to end success Attention to detail, with a drive to continuously improve ways of working Results-oriented, highly organized and motivated Proven ability to prioritize and work under pressure Preferred Qualifications Studying towards ATT or (similar) would be an advantage Fluency in additional language would be an advantage About Avalara About Avalara: We’re building cloud-based tax compliance solutions to handle every transaction in the world.
