Trainee Quantity Surveyor
CCG (Scotland) is one of Scotland’s largest privately owned construction and manufacturing companies, and we have a great opportunity available for a Trainee QS to join our Commercial Team in the financial control of a wide range of various types of construction projects.
The role involves the responsibility for assisting and looking after the commercial aspects of the project throughout its lifecycle. You will be reporting directly to a Senior QS and shall liaise with all functional departments within the organisation for input and support as required.
Candidates could already be studying through an HNC/HND or degree route, with the availability of moving to part-time.
HOURS: Mon-Thu 8am to 4.30pm Fri – 8am – 3.30pm (Core Flexible Hours Available)
LOCATION: CCG (Scotland) Ltd HQ, 1 Cambuslang Road, Cambuslang Investment Park, Glasgow, G32 8NB (this is an office-based role)
The Role
* Review of tender documents/contract conditions, and insurances
* Review of sub-contractors’ tenders; analysis and negotiation of various work packages
* Assist with the creation of labour/material targets.
* Material take-offs
* Remeasurement of work packages
* Setting internal targets/cost projections
* Assist with the management of subcontractors’ accounts/payments.
* Monthly valuations
* Liaison with client base and design team members.
* Assist in preparing monthly cost reports
* Attending monthly meetings
Skills
* Polite and approachable with a professional manner
* Good verbal and written communication
* Able to get on with a range of people.
* Reliable and conscientious
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Knowledge of MS office, Excel etc.
* Current Driving License or working towards it
