Band 7 Highly Specilised Echocardiographer

The post holder, working in conjunction with service leads, will support the effective day-to-day running of the Cardiology service. They will contribute to training, competency development, and service delivery across the department.
Under the direction of the Lead Consultant in Imaging, the post holder will participate in a broad range of cardiology activities, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused service across the Trust. A key aspect of the role will be supporting the development of the echocardiography workforce, contributing to progression towards independent practice.
Key responsibilities
* Practising with a high level of competence in echocardiography, working with increasing autonomy appropriate to Band 7 level
* Supporting delivery of a range of cardiac physiology procedures, maintaining competency across core areas and undertaking these as required
* Assisting in the day-to-day coordination and leadership of the echocardiography service, with support from senior colleagues
* Contributing to the training and development of multidisciplinary staff, supporting both practical and theoretical learning
* Participating in service development and quality improvement initiatives, including audit and research activity
* Supporting competency assessment and training within echocardiography
You will perform and report echocardiograms with a high level of competence, contribute to wider cardiac physiology services, and support training and competency development across the team. You will play an active role in service improvement, education, and maintaining clinical standards, while developing your own skills towards independent practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent/OTEC/ONC or equivalent in MPPM
Experience
* British Society of Echo cardiographers (BSE) accreditation or equivalent
* Meet requirements of RCCP voluntary register
* Evidence of CPD and attendance at relevant meetings
* Safeguarding
* Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of the speciality
* Evidence to demonstrate a structured approach to continuing professional development
* Evidence of an understanding of issues affecting the NHS today, including Government strategy
