A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Design Manager to join the team on a large, technically complex data centre development based in Buckinghamshire.
This is a key leadership role on a high-value, confidential project within the rapidly expanding data centre sector. You will be responsible for driving design excellence from pre-construction through to project delivery, working alongside top-tier consultants and specialist partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end design management process across all project phases
* Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure integration, compliance, and buildability
* Manage the design programme, including risk, change control, and value engineering
* Act as the main interface between client, consultants, and internal delivery teams
* Ensure all design outputs meet technical, commercial, and operational requirements
* Support procurement and contribute to technical reviews and subcontractor engagement
Requirements
* Demonstrated experience as a Lead or Senior Design Manager on large-scale construction projects
* Strong background in data centres, mission-critical, or highly serviced environments
* Experience working within a main contractor (Tier 1 preferred)
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to lead design teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
