AVP/VP - Convertible Bonds Asset Manager
Our Asset Management Team is seeking an individual to work closely with their Convertible Bonds group. This group manages both public and private convertible bonds. Arena originates and executes private financings across numerous industries and geographies. Members of the Convertible Bond team work closely with a range of sponsor-backed, family-owned, public, and privately-owned clients.
The team executes a variety of private financing transactions, such as growth equity, structured equity, private investments in public equities (PIPEs), co-invest equity, and growth/venture debt placements for various situations, including growth capital, acquisition financings, refinancing, dividend recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts (LBOs), and special situations.
The role will be based in London, and the analyst will support associates and senior team members in daily transaction and surveillance activities, as well as broader tasks to ensure efficient team operations.
The successful candidate will:
* Work alongside experienced capital raising professionals, gaining exposure to private placement transactions considerations
* Assist in evaluating and structuring customized financing options, including cash flow modeling
* Engage with various investors such as venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, asset managers, and family offices, as well as growth/venture debt providers
* Gain hands-on transaction experience by playing a key role in transactions and monitoring portfolio performance, market dynamics research, and analysis
* Enhance corporate finance and valuation skills, understanding developments in private and public capital markets
* Interact with diverse businesses across industries at different lifecycle stages with unique capital needs
* Build relationships with other sector teams within Arena for cohesive engagement
* Prepare update memoranda with background, transaction structure, financial projections, and recommendations
* Negotiate amendments, waivers, legal documents related to assets
* Communicate effectively with internal teams and external C-Suite individuals
* Perform monthly valuations of assigned financings
The role involves supporting the Convertible Bonds group managing both public and private bonds, executing private financings, and engaging with a broad investor base. The analyst will support daily transaction activities and broader team functions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate would possess:
* At least five years of relevant experience in convertible bond markets, investment banking, or private equity
* Strong academic background and quick learning ability in a dynamic setting
* Proven skills in accounting, finance, financial modeling, and analysis
* Leadership qualities, teamwork, and collegiality
* Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, organizational skills, and initiative
* Advanced Excel skills, familiarity with VBA preferred
* Experience in capital markets or related groups at leading investment banks, with a focus on private or structured equity, PIPE, or debt transactions
* Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to interact daily with deal team members across various internal functions
* Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
* Self-motivation, independence, and ability to handle responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
