An exciting opportunity has become available for a Transport Team Leader with our client, a leading Health & Beauty Supplier. This role is initially temporary, with potential for permanence.
Outline:
The primary responsibility involves leading a designated team within the Transport department of the Distribution Centre. This role requires ensuring that all operational processes are executed according to established standards, with a strong emphasis on safety. It is essential to identify and maximise operational efficiencies to enhance overall performance. Key objectives include ensuring timely and complete deliveries to retail outlets, supporting sales opportunities, and maintaining customer satisfaction. Effective leadership, adherence to safety protocols, and continuous process improvement are critical to achieving operational excellence and meeting business targets.
The successful candidate will manage daily transport operations and handle ad-hoc requests to meet business needs.
Key aspects of the role:
* Flexibility, including occasional extra hours and participation in an on-call rota at weekends.
* Motivating, coaching, and developing a team to perform duties efficiently, knowledgeably, and safely.
* Managing people issues for permanent staff in their area, liaising with HR to ensure fair treatment per company policies.
Take responsibility for weekly site performance regarding:
* Compliance, H&S, vehicle maintenance, DPRAs
* Delivery performance, People
* Cost, KPI performance, and Shrinkage
* Providing weekly reports to the Transport Manager on these areas.
Continuously review and develop processes within their responsibility, working closely with driver management, planning, and operational teams.
Ensure store operations receive reliable service, optimizing in-store availability via transport.
Report delivery concerns to the DPRA Manager to address H&S issues.
Collaborate with other Team Leaders to support shift performance and ensure effective handovers.
Provide timely updates to the Transport Manager and address concerns proactively.
Contribute to a site culture aligned with company values and achieve objectives set through PDRs.

What’s in it for you:
GBP39,589 - GBP40,788 per year, plus overtime and a performance-related bonus of up to 3.75%.
25 days annual leave plus Public Holidays, increasing to 28 days after 3 years, with an additional day per year up to 30 days.
