Home Assistance Officer (Surveyor)
We are looking to recruit a new team member to join our established Home Assistance Team, helping us keep pace with the growing demand for our grants and loans programme across North Lincolnshire.
This is a full‑time, permanent position.
Do you have good overall knowledge of domestic construction, with experience in identifying major defects and hazards, assessing them, and working collaboratively to develop practical solutions?
Have you previously designed adaptations for Disabled Facilities Grants to support our elderly and vulnerable residents—working alongside colleagues to help people safely access essential facilities in their homes?
Whatever your background, you must have excellent communication skills, particularly when liaising with people who access our services, many of whom may be elderly or vulnerable.
Teamwork is central to this role. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists, specialist clinicians, contractors, partner organisations, and colleagues across the council. The ability to share information, coordinate effectively, and support other team members is essential.
Experience of managing works on site is an advantage. You will also need to be adaptable and responsive to a varied workload that includes unplanned site visits—no two days are the same, and working together as a team helps us meet these challenges.
If you can answer positively to the above and want to make a real difference in people’s lives, we can offer the opportunity to join a modern, forward‑thinking organisation with flexible working arrangements (subject to service demands).
We offer blended working between home and Church Square House, Scunthorpe.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar local‑authority role, practical knowledge of HHSRS, and the ability to produce schedules of work to support like‑for‑like quotations across the range of grants and loans offered by NLC.
Strong CAD skills and an understanding of grants legislation would be an advantage.
For the right candidate, we will support your development—working with you to build on your existing skills and experience so you can confidently manage your own caseload while contributing to our supportive, established team environment.
You will receive excellent admin and IT support, along with ongoing professional development, to help you succeed in the role and continue to grow with the team.
Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role
