Senior Database Administrator
A global professional services organisation is strengthening its data and systems capability to support continued growth across multiple jurisdictions. This role sits at the heart of business systems, ensuring core databases are stable, secure and optimised to support critical operations and decision-making.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Managing, maintaining and enhancing enterprise SQL Server environments across production and non-production systems
* Leading database upgrades, migrations and platform improvements, including cloud transition initiatives
* Monitoring performance, availability and capacity to ensure high system uptime and resilience
* Proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact service delivery
* Optimising queries, troubleshooting database processes and improving overall system performance
* Managing database refreshes across environments in line with operational needs
* Owning backup and recovery strategy aligned to business continuity requirements
* Providing senior-level technical support in line with IT service management standards
* Supporting cloud adoption initiatives, particularly around Azure SQL and related services
* Collaborating with BI, RPA and development teams to enable secure and efficient data access and integration
* Supporting ETL processes, data quality improvements and system-to-system data mapping
Main Skills Needed:
* Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
* Strong background in database administration within high-availability enterprise environments
* Solid experience in performance tuning, optimisation and proactive monitoring
* Understanding of ETL design and data integration processes
* Experience working with cloud database platforms, particularly Azure SQL
* Familiarity with APIs, REST services and data exchange formats such as JSON (advantageous)
* Strong analytical mindset with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
* Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Experience supporting data environments within financial or regulated sectors (preferred)
