NHS Grampian is seeking to recruit a full-time Maxillofacial Prosthetist/Reconstructive Scientist (Agenda for Change Band 8a). The successful applicant must hold current registration with the GDC/HCPC and preferably be a full member of the IMPT.
The Maxillofacial Laboratory provides comprehensive regional Maxillofacial Prosthetics services covering North East Scotland and Highlands/Islands, supporting various specialties including Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, and others.
Main Duties of the Post
* Provide specialized clinical technical/maxillofacial prosthetic services for multiple surgical and medical disciplines.
* Offer scientific and advisory services for patient rehabilitation using implants, splints, and prostheses, focusing on craniofacial reconstruction, congenital malformations, and malignancies.
* Design and construct appliances for oral cancer, splint therapy, sleep apnea, and post-operative care with high individual skill.
* Participate in orthognathic surgery planning and diagnostic treatment planning.
* Assist in training and mentoring junior staff.
* Participate in a 1:4 on-call service providing 24-hour emergency support to surgeons and staff.
The successful candidate will be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the main teaching hospital in North East Scotland.
