Duties
Your duties as an Education and Support Officer / Learning Support Assistant will include:
* Cover lessons for teachers and teaching assistants
* Provide targeted academic, social, and emotional support to students in need
* Plan and prepare engaging lessons and resources
* Help produce the school magazine
* Communicate with parents and attend meetings to support student progress
* Contribute to a positive and disciplined learning environment
* Assist with school trips and games
* Assess how well students are meeting learning goals and use this information to improve teaching
* Mark and monitor student work, setting targets for improvement
* Systematically record and report on student progress to senior staff
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop the school curriculum
* Adapt existing lesson plans to make them more engaging
* Contribute to the school's overall development and attend school events
Candidate requirements
* Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. Evidence of ongoing professional development in education or intervention strategies
* Proven experience working with children or young people in educational or intervention-based settings
* Experience implementing behavior or learning interventions to support progress and attainment
* Experience of supporting pupils of all abilities to make excellent progress - Demonstrated ability to manage and monitor support plans for pupils with additional needs
* Experience working collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies
* Excellent classroom practitioner
* The ability to work with colleagues to enrich the curriculum
* Understanding of child development and the barriers to learning (e.g., social, emotional, and behavioral challenges)
* Knowledge of intervention strategies to support learning and behavior improvement
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
* Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo checks)
