Maintenance Engineer (Days) - MHE (Aldi UK)
Please Note: This role will be based in our Sawley Regional Distribution centre initially, with a move to our Bardon site in 2026. Bardon is Aldi’s first globally automated site, and the MHE maintenance team is pivotal to its success.
Aldi requires Maintenance Technicians who will be empowered to shape Aldi’s future and tackle some of the toughest technical and logistical challenges around. Your technical skills, innovative approach, and experience will help us continue to transform our business while maintaining a cost‑leadership model. The role embraces Aldi’s culture and values of simplicity, responsibility and consistency, and you will engage with the ALDI Management System (AMS) principles.
Your New Role
* Active member of the maintenance team, advising on plant safety, condition and performance.
* Adhere to Aldis expectations and relationships through excellent communication, explaining complex problems in simple terms.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on forklifts and warehouse equipment.
* Perform routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
* Ensure full utilization of the Aldi CMMS for all safety‑critical maintenance, accurate spares management and scheduled maintenance.
* Contribute to EOS (end‑of‑shift reports), investigate fault times and incidents, undertake RCA (root cause analysis) to minimize re‑occurrence risks.
* Responsible for compliance with all relevant health & safety standards.
* Advocate for continuous improvement activities within the plant.
* Work in accordance with the ALDI GB & IE Code of Conduct.
* Deliver performance KPIs.
* Maintain documentation related to safety and asset management in accordance with ISO 55000.
* Manage spares, ensuring stock audits remain 100 % accurate.
* Keep the workshop clean, tidy and professional.
* Supervise the performance of contractors when working on site.
About You
* Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Engineering.
* Experience as a forklift engineer, plant fitter, agricultural engineer, HGV technician or a similar mechanical/electrical role.
* Technical capability and experience.
* Computer literate with strong Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook).
* Good time‑keeping and organisational skills.
* Proactive mindset.
* Problem‑solving ability.
* IOSH working safely or equivalent NEBOSH qualification.
* Previous experience in an automated warehouse.
