The Organization
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children's rights and gender equality for girls. We believe in the potential of every child, especially girls, who are often most affected by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination.
We work with children, young people, supporters, and partners to create a just world, addressing root causes of challenges faced by girls and vulnerable children. Our efforts include supporting children's rights from birth to adulthood and enabling children to prepare for and respond to crises, influencing practices and policies globally.
With over 85 years of experience in more than 80 countries, we are committed to achieving equality for all children.
Our Country Offices often require additional experts during emergencies. The core surge team consists of technical, global experts who deploy to emergency responses, providing leadership and support tailored to each context.
This role is within the Global Humanitarian Policy, Advocacy, and Diplomacy Unit, one of four global humanitarian capability units at Plan.

The UN's Global Humanitarian Overview 2024 forecasts nearly 300 million people will need humanitarian assistance due to conflicts, climate emergencies, and other crises. * Extensive experience in advocacy strategy and messaging in humanitarian contexts.
* Proven skills in policy influence at the national level, capable of conveying complex messages in sensitive environments.
* Solid knowledge of current humanitarian issues, legal, and policy frameworks.
* Expertise in children's rights and gender issues in emergencies.
* Strong commitment to gender equality.
* Understanding of humanitarian architecture, coordination mechanisms, and influence within these structures.
* Discretion, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently in complex situations.
* Excellent interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to build relationships across diverse cultural contexts.
* Experience managing in dynamic, pressured environments.
* Adherence to humanitarian values and standards.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to data systems.
