About the Role
We're looking for a skilled and experienced BMS engineer to join our BeMS Optimisation division. As Senior Optimisation Engineer, responsibilities will include delivering Optimisation, PPM and Reactive service works for our clients across all sectors, with a focus on energy efficiency solutions that contribute positively to decarbonisation. Working closely with our clients on site, as well as our in‑house support teams, you are one of our primary means of delivering a positive impact for our clients, spanning energy, carbon, and maintenance savings.
Responsibilities
* Always maintain full awareness of Health & Safety standards and protocols, before, during and after accessing client sites.
* Review and sign on to RAMS on commencement of each engagement and ensure acknowledged by the client organisation.
* Review the site in line with the issued RAMS and look for any changes that will require a workplace risk assessment to mitigate the new risks – using discretion to terminate a job if standards are not adhered to or risks deemed too high to continue.
* Ensure Health & Safety certification is up to date.
* Complete energy optimisation surveys on known systems (Trend, Tridium, Cylon, Siemens, etc.) to identify building energy efficiency performance.
* Write simple energy optimisation survey reports setting out proposed interventions to optimise control strategies.
* Troubleshoot energy exceptions identified by the Remote Optimisation Centre (ROC) energy team to confirm the source of energy wastage.
* Implement software modifications onsite to enhance building energy performance.
* Conduct PPM service works according to an annual schedule of deliverables.
* Engage in technical discussions around building control technologies with our clients and be confident in offering solutions in a clear and easily understood manner.
* Operate across all types of clients from retail to commercial and hospitality buildings.
* During service visits conduct maintenance activities on pre‑start checks, control panels, BMS controllers, temperature sensors, control valves/dampers, pressure switches/transducers, supervisory software, and user operator panels; assess and resolve issues relating to building energy efficiency.
* While on PPM visits, identify and scope opportunities to complete additional small works, and work with support team to issue proposals in a timely manner.
* Prepare and issue PPM service reports on the same day as the visit.
* Communicate professionally with all stakeholders including the client and third parties.
* Undertake reactive call‑outs to troubleshoot and resolve controls issues relating to software or HVAC plant.
* Complete small works projects including repairs and installs in relation to HVAC plant.
* Provide detailed and concise reports based upon your onsite activities.
* CSCS Gold card or ECS card essential.
Qualifications
* Qualified in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (to HNC/ONC or equivalent).
* At least 5 years of BMS commissioning and systems experience.
* Qualified or experienced with Cylon, Trend and/or Tridium systems.
* Understanding of service, fault finding and small project delivery techniques.
* Ability to work as a team with a positive and resilient approach to dealing with clients and suppliers.
* Ability to find solutions to complex problems.
* Thorough appreciation of site operations and procedures in line with client/stakeholder requirements.
* An open and approachable manner, backed by high moral and ethical standards.
* Proactive attitude with a purpose‑driven mindset that brings drive, energy and passion to the role.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships both digitally and in person.
* Accountability to yourself and others.
* High attention to detail.
* Full UK driver’s licence.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
