The role is for a SCF grade level doctor, who has experience in leading a shift in the Emergency Department as a tier 4 clinician. The job will be providing maternity leave cover.
We offer support for a portfolio pathway and offer secondments to allied specialities for completion of the required competencies for CESR.
Main duties of the job
Salisbury ED currently has a spacious 3 bedded Resus, 14 bedded Majors,
Paediatric assessment area as well as a newly built minors department. It has
further plans for redesigning the current work space.
The Department covers a large geographic area and sees over 48,000 new patients
per year. It receives the full range of Emergency patients, with Paediatric patients
making up approximately 25% of the total. Salisbury is a designated Trauma Unit
linked to UHS as our nearest MTC. There is a large military population utilising the
Salisbury Plain Training Area and living in the area with their young families and this
is set to grow over the next 2 years with a new military town being developed.
There is an experienced and supportive cohort of nurses with a Band 6 in charge of
each shift and 3 ENPs through the day until midnight responsible for the Minors
area.
The hospital has all DGH specialities including acute medicine based on AMU,
paediatrics and daytime interventional cardiology. Overnight surgical work is
covered by a pooled junior doctor rota supported by critical care outreach.
Anaesthetics, medicine, O&G and paediatrics all have registrar presence overnight.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
2. At least 2 years of experience in Emergency Medicine in the UK or equivalent healthcare system
3. ATLS course passed within last 5 years
4. ALS course passed within last 4 years
5. EPALS/APLS passed within last 4 years
Experience
Essential criteria
6. Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in Emergency Medicine including management of paediatrics and trauma. Able to work effectively in majors, minors and resuscitation areas
7. Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems: demonstrates clear, logical thinking and an analytical approach
8. Experience in managing risk and knows when to seek help. Able to prioritise clinical need
9. Knowledge and application of up to date evidence based practice
10. Evidence of working at MG level in a UK ED
