Job Information

Working Hours: 37

Location: Morpeth

Job Category: Education

Region / Division: UK Region

Directorate: Northumberland County Council

Northumberland County Council operates a huge range of services across one of the largest counties in the UK. Local Government’s ongoing challenges and the diversity of our residents means we have to work smarter. That’s why we want bold, creative and agile thinkers who can help us move forward and innovate.

These positions are only open to fully qualified Educational Psychologists registered with the Health Care Professions Council.

We are seeking to appoint Associate Educational Psychologists to join our supportive and dedicated team. As a service we are committed to the application of educational and psychological research to improve outcomes for children and young people. We seek to promote the use of inclusive, evidence‑based practices to help children and young people overcome barriers to educational achievement, social and emotional well‑being and mental health. Our Associate Educational Psychologists will complete mainly statutory assessment work with schools and settings, but may also undertake other generic EP work if the need arises.

We have a central base in Cramlington although currently most colleagues are home working. We have access to hot desking facilities in other localities and work closely with other SEND services. We have high‑quality administrative support and are a supportive and friendly team! Our Associate EPs are paid on Soulbury and enjoy all the benefits of being part of a Local Authority Team but on a casual contract where there is no obligation on either part to offer or accept work.

Full details can be found in the attached job description and person specification. We are offering:

* Soulbury A scale for EPs 2‑7 plus up to 3 spas
* Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (or other pension scheme)
* A wide range of staff benefits including a competitive annual leave provision

The appointments will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance. We are committed to equality and diversity.

For informal discussion, please contact Paula Hesford (Service Manager) or Katinka Bryan (Senior EP) on 01670 624813. Email: Paula.Hesford@northumberland.gov.uk / Katinka.Bryan@northumberland.gov.uk

For guidance on completing your application and for information about our Equality and Diversity principles, please see attached notes. If you have a disability and would prefer to apply in a different format or would like us to make reasonable adjustments to enable you to attend an interview please email hrrecruitment@northumberland.gov.uk
