About the Role
We are pleased to be working with a prominent care provider to locate devoted and caring Care Assistants to join their fantastic team. You will provide care to residents as part of a collaborative team using the “Named Nurse” concept. You will play a key role in helping to achieve the philosophy of care, protecting the privacy, dignity, respect and choice of the residents, and assisting the Named Nurse in the provision of nursing care.
Main Responsibilities
* Personal Care: To support and enable residents to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance and to access and utilise toilet facilities as part of specific continence promotion initiatives.
* Nutritional Support: Help and enable residents to eat and drink.
* Mobility & Comfort: Encourage, maintain and enhance the mobility of residents, supervising and aiding as necessary to ensure they maintain optimum mobility and attain physical comfort. Assist in planning and executing social activities, aid in outings, and offer emotional, physical, and spiritual support.
* Communication: Keep a high level of communication between residents, relatives and staff to build strong connections. Contribute to a high standard of cleanliness within the home, operate laundry equipment safely and contribute to Health and Safety.
What to Expect: 5 Day Induction
Day 1: Introduction to the firm, line management structure, philosophy of care, Health & Safety policy, risk assessments and geography of the facility.
Day 2: Introduction to residents, learning the named nursing system, understanding what constitutes abuse, and holistic care.
Day 3: COSHH and RIDDOR Health & Safety training, fire precautions, infection control, defect reporting and equipment operations.
Day 4: First Aid essentials (dealing with falls, choking, burns, electrical shock and haemorrhage) and introduction to special resident needs (sensory impairments, confusional states and communication issues).
Day 5: Effective record keeping and reporting methods (care plans, incident tracking, individual resident records) & assessment of resident-focused quality issues and complaints processing.
Skills & Qualifications
* A holistic approach to treatment that is genuinely caring, courteous and empathetic.
* Good communication skills and team player mindset.
* Knowledge of key requirements such as COSHH, RIDDOR and general Health and Safety law.
Note: You will need to complete Manual Handling training (including the anatomy of the back, and carrying loads safely) before you start work for which you will be paid.
