Health and Safety Advisor – Estates, Facilities & Capital

Are you experienced in conducting risk assessments, investigations and audits — and ready to use those skills?
We are looking for a highly motivated, knowledgeable Health & Safety Advisor to support our Estates & Facilities teams. You will provide expert advice, lead risk‑reduction initiatives, support construction and contractor safety, and promote a proactive safety culture across the division.
This is a hands‑on role where you'll work closely with Estates, Facilities and Capital Project Managers to ensure safe systems of work, effective risk management and continual improvement.
You’ll make a direct impact by helping keep our colleagues, patients and visitors safe every day.
Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist H&S advice in line with legislation, regulations and Trust policies.
* Lead on risk assessments, inspections and the implementation of control measures.
* Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes and recommend improvements.
* Support construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance and safe working practices.
* Deliver engaging H&S training, guidance and awareness sessions.
* Coordinate quarterly KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice.
* Support the Trust's PDCA (Plan‑Do‑Check‑Act) health and safety management framework.

Qualifications and Training
* Training AET
* NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
* Knowledge of H&S acquired through degree or equivalent experience
* Certified Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (certIOSH) or equivalent
* NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Development and presentation of incident and risk reports to senior managers
* Ability to develop bespoke training plans and presentations
* Excellence in the development and monitoring of risk reduction action‑plans
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge and Experience
* A good understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations and best practice
* Experience of providing training and awareness raising on health and safety
* Experience of investigating accidents and incidents
* Experience of undertaking H&S risk assessments and site inspections audits
* Experience of managing contractors and reviewing their H&S documentation
* Experience of working on construction projects
* Experience of working in the healthcare environment
