Derby | Commodity Manager | Hybrid 18th month Contract - Maternity cover We are looking for an experienced Commodity Manager to join our team at our Derby site. Hybrid 2-3 days in the office Monday – Thursday: 8.00am - 17.00pm Friday : 8.00am - 13.00pm Salary £50,000 Benefits * Company pension scheme * 25 days annual leave 8 statutory holidays, Christmas shut down * BUPA Health care * Free onsite parking * Death in Service benefit * Long Service awards Purpose of role and accountabilities: * Conduct supplier negotiations to secure the best possible terms (pricing, delivery, quality). * Implement and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure compliance and performance. * Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and supplier capabilities to anticipate changes in demand and supply. * Maintain ongoing communication with suppliers to monitor performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement. * Work closely with internal stakeholders to align supplier strategies with business needs. * Identify cost-saving opportunities through negotiations, alternative sourcing, or process improvements. * Track and report on savings and cost performance, ensuring alignment with the overall financial targets of the company. * Implement best practices and continuous improvement in the procurement processes to drive savings. * Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in the supply chain related to direct commodities. * Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations in procurement activities. * Support budget planning and forecasting processes related to direct procurement. * Facilitate communication and information sharing between departments to optimize procurement strategies. * Develop contingency plans for potential disruptions in the supply of direct commodities. * Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management on savings, supplier performance, and market conditions. * Use tools like procurement software, market intelligence platforms, and spend analytics to gather insights. * Support the new ERP system go live Core skills/attributes needed: * This position requires someone who is a strategic thinker that can influence and implement change in a dynamic environment * A strong understand of the Aerospace raw material market is key * Capable user of Microsoft software including Excel, PowerPoint and Project * An understanding of computerised MRP systems preferred * Experience/knowledge within the Aerospace industry preferred * Requires thoroughness, resourcefulness, adaptability to shifting priorities/deadlines and multi-tasking * Must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and organization skills * Requires excellent analytical skills and the ability to analyse and resolve problems at all levels. * This individual will be required to interact across all disciplines within the organization and must possess the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management Page 1 of 2 Gardner Aerospace Public (GREEN) Document * Must be able to travel within the UK * Must hold a valid UK driving licence * Must hold a valid UK passport for overseas travel The employee must also strive to support the elements of the SQCDP framework of the wider Gardner business; ➢ Safety: work in line with all accredited company safety standards in order to provide a safe working environment for all ➢ Quality: support the quality accreditations across the business to ensure the delivery of a ‘right first time’ performance ➢ Cost: support the continuous improvements in cost reduction activities across the company in order to deliver increased profitability and value for money to our customers and stakeholders ➢ Delivery: drive improvement in delivery performance to continually exceed customer expectations and targets ➢ People: support organisational capability and influence cultural change by embracing diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and community
