The Role
You'll be the first technical hire post MVP - which means you'll set the architecture, the culture, and the bar. As we grow, you'll shift from hands-on building to hiring and leading a small, exceptional engineering team. You'll sit at the founding table and have meaningful equity.
This is a company-defining role. We're looking for someone who wants to own it, not fill it.
What You'll Build
An AI-powered personality matching engine - probabilistic, iterative, and fast enough to feel like magic
A platform designed to scale to millions of users without losing the intimacy of small-group connection. Feedback loops that learn from real-world outcomes - did people actually meet? Did they come back? Infrastructure built for trust - privacy-first, GDPR-compliant, resilient by default
Who We're Looking for
* You've shipped production AI/ML systems - recommenders, matching algorithms, ranking models, or similar
* You're comfortable across the stack - you can debate architecture in the morning and write clean backend code in the afternoon
* You think in systems about scale, failure modes, and what happens in three years, not just next sprint
* You've led engineering teams before, or you're clearly ready to and you know the difference between managing and building culture
* You're genuinely excited about using AI to solve a problem that matters, not just as a tool, but as the product
Nice to Have
* Experience with consumer social, dating, or community platforms
* Background in psychometrics, behavioural science, or social graph modelling
* Early-stage startup or founder experience - you know what zero-to-one actually feels like
