Employment Advisor

The Growth Company’s (GC) Employment team have an exciting new opportunity for four Employment Advisors to contribute to individuals’ progression into employment, training and education through the delivery of a range of guidance and training services for unemployed people.

The UK government's Youth Guarantee aims to prevent long-term youth unemployment by providing 18–21-year-olds on Universal Credit for 18+ months with a fully funded, six-month paid job. The scheme is providing guaranteed jobs for 55,000 long-term unemployed young people over the next 3 years, helping them take the crucial first step into sustained employment where earlier support and opportunities have not worked.

A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential, as the role involves community-based work across South Manchester, including Wythenshawe, Rusholme, Didsbury and Longsight.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and deliver advice, guidance and training to unemployed individuals, working closely with JCP, local partners, employers and training providers.
2. Deliver one‑to‑one and group interventions including assessments, inductions, job search and employability sessions.
3. Identify learning needs, barriers and progression routes while maintaining high standards of data security and accurate record‑keeping.
4. Support customers to create up‑to‑date CVs, plan training pathways, access referrals and engage regularly through face‑to‑face and digital contact.
5. Prepare resources, facilitate group learning, evaluate sessions and provide tailored support to help customers progress.
6. Report safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
7. Contribute to wider team activity including tender writing and development of new services.
8. Work in line with Health & Safety legislation and organisational policies.

About You:

9. Warm, professional and able to build strong rapport with a diverse customer base.
10. Confident working under pressure in a target‑driven environment.
11. Flexible, adaptable and willing to travel or work occasional unsociable hours.
12. Self‑motivated with strong integrity and a positive, solutions‑focused approach.
13. Able to represent and promote organisational values and services effectively.
14. Comfortable challenging constructively and negotiating when required.
15. Highly organised with strong time‑management skills.
16. Professional, articulate and committed to making a positive difference.

Skills Required:

17. Experience in sales, customer service or the Employment and Skills sector.
18. Strong IT capability including MI systems, spreadsheets, email and diary management.
19. Excellent knowledge of the local labour market, recruitment methods and growth sectors.
20. Understanding of Employment & Skills provision, training routes and national guidance standards.
21. Ability to work to KPIs and challenging targets.
22. Strong administration, accuracy, numeracy and literacy skills.
23. Effective networking and promotional skills.
24. Problem‑solving ability and confidence working both independently and as part of a team.
