About the role
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join our growing team on a permanent basis, based in Crawley and covering the Home Counties including Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Surrey and Kent. As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will be responsible for installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of fire alarm systems across a diverse customer base. The Fire Alarm Engineer role offers exposure to retail units, office blocks and larger commercial premises, providing varied and technically interesting work. This position would suit a proactive Fire Alarm Engineer who takes pride in delivering high quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
The successful Fire Alarm Engineer will work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team, ensuring all systems meet current British Standards and health and safety legislation. Key responsibilities
• Carrying out planned service and maintenance tasks on a varied customer base from retail units to office blocks
• Completing a range of duties from small works through to full commissioning of fire alarm systems
• Supporting larger installation projects for those keen to further develop installation skills
• Using existing knowledge and experience to fault find effectively and efficiently
• Delivering a comprehensive service to customers in accordance with British Standards within a defined geographical area
• Ensuring all documentation and certification is completed accurately and on time
Skills and experience required
Essential
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire system maintenance and installation
• FIA Installation and Maintenance Module
• Experience of open and closed protocol fire alarm systems
• Electrical design experience with a fire alarm element
• Working knowledge of BS5839 and current health and safety legislation
• Ability to work to time sensitive deadlines
• Strong problem solving ability and attention to detail
• Full UK driving licence
