This is a 4-week contract, so we need someone able to validate, harden, and execute a known approach. Responsibilities: We need to reduce storage and I/O costs on a large, write-heavy Aurora MySQL database. We need to deliver this work with zero downtime and no production impact until a controlled cutover. We need to address a large request-log table whose space cannot be reclaimed by DELETE. We need to avoid the risks of running OPTIMIZE TABLE, which would lock the table for an unpredictable time. We need to reduce the high IOPS bill from running the write-heavy cluster on Aurora standard pricing. We need to validate the intended approach, harden it, and execute it. The workload is overwhelmingly write-driven, based on high-volume API request and ping logging, and years of growth plus overly long retention have made the database expensive to store and slow to query. We have an intended approach already defined and can provide it, and we are looking for an expert contract DBA to help us validate, harden, and execute the solution with zero downtime and no production impact until controlled cutover.
