Job Description

Responsibilities

* Work closely with our partner organisations to support the delivery of schemes that help to reduce flood risk and enhance the environment across the English Severn & Wye Catchment or Trent Catchment depending on location.
* Support Risk Management Authorities in the writing and approval of business cases.
* Assist Risk Management Authorities in building a robust pipeline of future projects.
* Find opportunities for joint working / collaboration.
* Gather and interpret data from a range of sources to review / report on project performance.
* Assist Levy Advisors in identifying training needs, building knowledge and sharing information.
* Help to guide Risk Management Authorities through Environment Agency process requirements and streamline them where possible.
* Assist advisors to input into Regional Flood and Coastal Committee / Finance Sub Committee Meetings as required.
* You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.


The team

The ESW RFCC and Trent RFCC Local Levy teams are funded to support Lead Local Flood Authorities in their delivery of projects and programmes across the catchments. We work flexibly providing a variety of services depending on the specific needs of the LLFAs pushing for positive outcomes for people and environment. We’re a dispersed team and work with a wide range of technical and project teams across the country.


Experience / skills Required

The role requires an engaging and enthusiastic person with the ability to work with a wide range of teams and individuals. Experience of supporting the development and delivery of high‑quality projects and programmes on time and to budget is ideal.

* Have excellent stakeholder, partner and customer engagement skills.
* Background in Flood Risk (FCRM) or Environmental (WLB) management.
* Previous involvement in project / programme management.
* Be a clear and confident communicator, with the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues.
* Experience of contributing to the writing of project proposals and business cases.
* Ability to analyse and interpret data.
* Be comfortable delivering high quality work to tight deadlines.
* Be flexible, resourceful and be able to prioritise work to deliver the best outcomes.
* Have a positive attitude and the ability to work independently to prioritise workloads.

You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. We’ll help you find a role to suit your needs. Appropriate training will be given. You’ll have an EA Office base location and hybrid working is available. Some travel and overnights may be required.

Interviews will be held via MS Teams within three weeks of the closing date, week commencing 13th April 2026. If you consent to being held on a reserve list, we’ll hold your details for 6 months and may offer you an alternative post. This role is not suitable for a Skilled Worker Visa.


Length of contract

Up to 12 months
