Delivery Manager – Environment

Galliford Try is seeking a Delivery Manager to lead project delivery within our Environment Business, based in or around Normanton. The role reports to the Senior Management Team and involves cross‑site travel across the Yorkshire Water region.


What you will be doing

The Delivery Manager will head a team to deliver a programme of works across the Yorkshire Water region, develop and recruit the project delivery team, and provide clear direction at all levels. They will be accountable for all commercial aspects of the programme, working with the Commercial team to control costs and manage cash flow.

* Accountable for project & programme delivery, ensuring health & safety, programme, design, procurement, financial control and site activities are managed to the highest standards.
* Influence the operational delivery structure to drive outstanding performance.
* Align to the client’s direction and needs, interpret contract commitments and manage stakeholder expectations.
* Ensure key deliverables within each stage are administered to the highest quality.
* Promote strong H&S behaviours and develop strong team working relationships.
* Provide a vision and define clear team roles, responsibilities and objectives while supporting the Project Team.
* Manage people, resources and relationships to ensure effective delivery of programmes and projects.
* Build trust with customers and stakeholders, keeping them updated on progress.
* Empower others to innovate and drive continuous improvement.
* Make evidence‑based decisions, assess risks and identify opportunities.
* Encourage commercial challenge at all times.
* Lead our approach to collaborative planning.
* Ensure compliance to internal and client systems & procedures.


About You

* Industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng. or NVQ equivalent.
* H&S qualifications.
* IOSH or CITB 5 Day Site Safety Management (SMSTS).
* CSCS card.
* Demonstrable experience within the waste and / or water industries.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
* Dedicated team player with ability to work independently.
* Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate time management to meet deadlines.
* Able to work in a busy environment under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face).
* Can‑do attitude and supportive to other team members.
* Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture.
* Organised, structured and professional, passionate about excellence.
* Flexibility, resilience and ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders.
* Commitment to excellent customer service and enthusiasm.
* Self‑starter who embraces new challenges and works collaboratively to achieve results.
