Offer description

Do you believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home? Are you passionate about supporting people who’ve experienced homelessness and exclusion to rebuild their lives? If so, we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for a Specialist Support Worker to join our team, providing tailored housing support to customers with a history of homelessness, rough sleeping, and complex needs. You’ll be helping people settle into their new homes, access vital services, and take steps towards independent living. What you’ll be doing: In this role, you’ll support customers both in their homes and out in the community across Braintree, helping them settle into accommodation and access the services they need. You’ll build trusting relationships with people who’ve faced significant challenges, advocating for their wellbeing, independence, and positive relationships. You’ll work to create psychologically informed environments where individuals feel heard and respected, while managing risk effectively to keep everyone safe. Collaboration is key, and you’ll work closely with partners to ensure joined-up support. Lone working is a regular part of the role, so confidence and self-motivation are essential. What we’re looking for: * Experience delivering high-quality support services. * Knowledge of housing, homelessness, and social care systems. * Confidence working with vulnerable people and those who’ve faced exclusion. * Understanding of the causes of homelessness and rough sleeping. * Familiarity with services across Braintree and Mid Essex. * A proactive, kind, and collaborative approach. * Access to your own vehicle with business insurance. Our Assessment Process We’re committed to a fair, inclusive, and transparent recruitment process. The first stage will be an online interview via Microsoft Teams, taking place between 29 October and 31 October. Candidates who are successful at this stage will be invited to attend an in-person interview on 4 November at our scheme in Braintree. Why Join Us? When you join Peabody, you’re joining a team guided by our values. Be Kind, Do the Right Thing, Love New Ideas, Celebrate Diversity, Keep Our Promises, and Pull Together. We believe in creating a workplace where everyone feels supported, included, and empowered. We offer: * 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays. * Flexible benefits package – including healthcare, dental, and lifestyle discounts. * 4x life assurance. * Ongoing training and development, including qualifications and apprenticeships. * Two additional paid volunteering days each year. * Up to 10% matched pension contribution. Please read before you apply * You must have the right to work in the UK; we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. * We reserve the right to close this advert early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications. * This role requires an enhanced DBS If you’re a proactive, values-driven support professional who thrives on building trust, making a difference, and helping people move forward in life, we’d love to hear from you.
