My client are a UK-based public organisation with a vital role in protecting people’s financial wellbeing. Their work involves overseeingplex systems that impact millions, ensuring they operate fairly, transparently, and in the public interest. They collaborate across sectors, influence policy, and drive high standards, operating at the intersection of regulation, policy, and public service. Due to a transitional period in the team, we are seeking temporary support in the Press Office for 3–6 months.
Your new role
As Media Officer, you will drive proactivemunications, writing press releases, blogs, and media statements – engaging with journalists to 'sell in' the news and secure press coverage. You will also handle media enquiries in a moderately busy press office – meaning you will have time to really plan and deliver yourms. You will be involved in daily media monitoring, delivering reports to the Chief Exec on media coverage. You will also work with a range of stakeholders, participating in working groups for widermunications plans and initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
Prior experience as a Media Officer or PR Executive is essential – and you must have experience working in a Press Office. You will demonstrate strong written skills and familiarity with media writing; press releases, media statements etc. as well as knowledge of media monitoring. You will have goodmunications skills and the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders – particularly working closely with journalists to proactively promote press releases and statements as well as handling media enquiries.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a daily rate between £200 - £280 for this 3–6 month contract, with the potential to consider longer-term opportunities with the organisation. You will be required to fulfil some on-call, out-of-hours work on a rota basis as well as some earlier starts for media monitoring deadlines. This will bepensated, and the organisation operates flexi-hours, including a hybrid working arrangement of 6 days per month in the Brighton office (every Tuesday + 2 additional days per month).
