Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and creative Art Technician to support the smooth running of our vibrant Art Department and Arts Centre. You’ll be the backbone of day-to-day operations — from preparing resources and supporting lessons to coordinating exhibitions and maintaining specialist equipment. This hands-on, varied role includes both technical and administrative responsibilities, with occasional evening and weekend work for events and shows.

About the Position
Contract Type: 0.60 FTE, Term Time Only
Salary: £ 25,650 FTE (based on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
* Provide technical and classroom support for art lessons, including photography and printmaking.
* Manage resources: order supplies, monitor stock, and oversee departmental budgets.
* Maintain and prepare studio spaces, darkrooms, kilns, and specialist equipment.
* Support student creativity during after school and open studio sessions.
* Hang and curate student exhibitions in the Arts Centre.
* Ensure health and safety compliance through regular risk assessments (COSHH, equipment testing, etc.).
* Accompany school art trips and contribute to the wider creative life of the school.
* Assist with administrative tasks, including minute-taking and equipment logs.
About you
* Experience or qualification in a relevant technical or creative field.
* Technically capable and hands-on, with strong organisational and IT skills.
* Knowledge of Photoshop, large-format printing, and photographic processes is an advantage.
* Ability to manage resources and maintain creative spaces.
* Comfortable working with young people and collaborating with staff.
* Willingness to learn digital/analogue photography and print processes.
* A proactive problem-solver with a practical, can-do approach.
* Background in exhibition installation or arts admin is an advantage.
* Enthusiastic and reliable.
