A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic team at University Hospitals Dorset on a secondment. The Trauma and Orthopaedic directorate are continuing their transformational journey and are implementing the leadership structure that will support service developments as UHD delivers an exciting programme of service redesign. Trauma and Orthopaedics at University Hospitals Dorset is a large and well-established service. Trauma and paediatric orthopaedic surgery is currently undertaken on the Poole Site, which is home to the largest fragility fracture centre in Europe with over patients attending per year requiring Neck of Femur surgery and a trauma bed base of over beds. A total MDT approach to patient care is embedded with a developing lower limb fragility servicing combing the medical expertise of our orthogeriatricians and orthopaedic surgeons. Establishment and embedding of a virtual fracture clinic service has seen up to 60% of referrals managed virtually. Elective orthopaedic surgery is currently undertaken on the Bournemouth site, which is home to the Derwent Orthopaedic Centre with a 28-bed inpatient ward and dedicated orthopaedic theatres. There is a requirement for cross site working. This is a secondment until the 31st March with potential to extend. Main duties of the job · The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the performance and business of the Trauma and Orthopaedic services. The post holder will work as a key member of the service’s leadership teams working with clinical colleagues to develop and deliver high quality care for patients. · Part of your role will be to provide support to the Risk and Governance Lead to embed the quality governance agenda within the Directorate. The post holder will promote a proactive approach to involvement in all aspects of governance. You are also a Senior Manager within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate Management Team and as such will work to meet the objectives of both the Directorate and Care Group while supporting the Trust’s overall vision, values and strategy.
