Overview

Are you an experienced social work professional looking to take the next step in your career? West Berkshire Council is seeking an Assistant Team Manager to support the Service Manager in leading our dedicated and passionate team within the Children and Family Services. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality social care services and make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in our community.


Responsibilities

* As the Assistant Team Manager, you will work closely with the Service Manager to ensure the effective operation and management of the Children and Family Assessment Team. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the Team Manager in the day-to-day management of the team, including supervision and appraisal of staff
* Ensuring the timely and appropriate assessment of children and family needs
* Overseeing the planning and delivery of interventions to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
* Monitoring and maintaining accurate case records and documentation
* Collaborating with external agencies and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for children and families
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of services through participation in quality assurance activities


Qualifications and Skills

* Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration
* Experience working within a children’s social care setting, ideally with some supervisory or leadership experience
* Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory requirements, and best practice in safeguarding and child protection
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, children, and families
* Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities
* Motivated and proactive, with a solution-focused approach to problem-solving

* You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
