Role Overview
Do you want to lead and deliver important and innovative projects that reduce flood risks and enhance the environment?
We are seeking Project Managers to join our Programme & Contract Management (PCM) team. This is a rewarding role within our integrated project teams, where you will manage projects as the Client project manager.
You will prioritize health, safety, and environmental considerations in project delivery. Applying strong commercial understanding in project, contract, and risk management, you will oversee the project from strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, and into implementation, construction, and handover.
You will make informed project decisions with technical leads, following governance procedures, project assurance, and legislation.
Building a collaborative environment, you will establish effective relationships and create high-performing teams, including suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists, and partners such as statutory authorities, landowners, and communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals, and funding.
Responding to incidents is a key part of our work. You will be expected to have an incident response role and be available to respond or support during incidents. Additional training and flexible arrangements will support this role.
The Team
We are the Programme and Contracts Management team (PCM), dedicated to excellence in project and programme management. The North East PCM hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing 70-120 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Managers, and Project Team Managers who oversee project delivery within our flood and coastal erosion risk management programme using framework suppliers.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in project delivery and contract management, ideally in engineering, construction, or flood & coastal risk management.
* Effective communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders, including interpersonal and influencing skills to build collaborations.
* Proficiency in MS Office tools (Teams, Excel, Word, Project).
* Active management of health, safety, and wellbeing.
Desirable Skills
* Experience with FastDraft, Projects Online, NEC4 contracts.
* Chartered membership of ICE, APM, or CIWEM.
* Degree in engineering, environmental science, geography, or related discipline.
* Technical expertise in asset management, business case development, cost monitoring, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design, construction, or river modelling.
