Overview
This vacancy is only open at this stage to internal employees of the following organisations within the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System: North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust; Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust; University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, inclusive of Black Country Procurement Group and North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service. Ward Clerk, Assessment and Treatment Unit, Harplands Hospital: maternity cover to 13 July 2026. This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave and is part time, 22.5 hours per week. You should be a calm, organised and well-motivated person with a positive, mature and flexible approach to your work. The post involves contact with patients and their families, so good communication skills are vital.
Responsibilities
* To adopt a flexible approach and recognise changing priorities throughout the day in respect of the fluctuating nature of a busy service.
* To ensure accurate and efficient allocation, recording and despatch of mail.
* To receive telephone calls, refer to nursing staff or take/allocate messages as appropriate.
* To receive and send documentation and e-mail as per policy.
* To produce correspondence and other documentation as required.
* To photocopy, collate and distribute documentation as required.
Qualifications and requirements
* Previous clerical experience in the health service would be desirable.
* This role is not eligible for sponsorship.
* Priority will be given to NHS staff across the region who are at risk of redundancy, where the vacancy is at the same band or one below their current band and candidates meet the essential criteria for this post.
* All employees new to the Trust will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.
* All clinical staff bands 2-4 that are new to the Trust will be required to complete a Care Certificate.
* Canvassing of members of the Trust or of any Committee of the Trust directly or indirectly for any appointment shall disqualify the candidate. The Trust does not pay travel expenses for candidates attending interviews.
