We are looking for a Lead Test Engineer to define and implement the strategy for build automation and test solutions that assure the quality of our government client's digital services. You will lead, mentor, and provide technical expertise to test engineering teams, ensuring high-quality, secure, and reliable services. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will shape the future of testing for distributed microservices.
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in any office (Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Daily Rate: £640.00 (may vary based on experience)
Security Clearance: BPSS Basic mandatory. Must be eligible for SC clearance.

* Drive the delivery of quality-assured and secure digital services.
* Assess the impact of changes and maintain an outward-facing perspective to understand your team’s contribution to the bigger picture.
* Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to test engineering teams.
Essential Requirements / Experience:
CVs must clearly demonstrate:
* Significant experience leading and testing microservices (not just working on them).
* Hands-on experience in functional and non-functional testing.
* Leadership experience, including leading microservices transformation initiatives.
* Experience with contract/component testing, performance testing, accessibility testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
Additional Technical Skills:
* Cloud: AWS (primary)
* Test Frameworks: Serenity BDD (Selenium + RestAssured), Playwright
* DevOps: GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, Docker
* Performance Testing: Gatling, K6
* Observability & Monitoring: Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus
