TP Tutors are closely partnered with virtual schools and local authorities to provide essential support for children in care who are at risk of missing out on education. Many of these young people face significant barriers such as placement moves, trauma, disrupted routines, and additional learning needs, which make accessing mainstream education challenging.
As a means of addressing these barriers we are looking for 1:1 tutors who can deliver personalised education plans to help children in care re-engage with learning, build confidence and successfully return to the classroom.
As a 1:1 tutor you will:
Plan, deliver and adapt tailored learning programmes to meet each child’s individual needs
Support pupils who may present with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning delays linked to trauma and disrupted schooling.
Provide not just academic input, but also encouragement, structure, and positive role-modelling.
Provide tuition in either the home or a public setting (e.g. library or learning centre)
What we’re looking for:
Ideally QTS/PGCE, though strong unqualified teachers or experienced tutors/mentors with relevant experience are welcome.
Patience, empathy, and resilience to support children who may struggle to trust adults or engage consistently.
Experience of working with children with additional needs or in care settings.
Ability to build strong, supportive relationships and inspire progress, however small the steps.
What you will get in return
Up to £30p/h (PAYE) with weekly pay
Flexible working hours – from 1 to 15 hour per week, with options to work with multiple students
Local and regular assignments tailored to your availability
Dedicated consultant to support you every step of the way
The opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in education
