An exciting opportunity has arisen for registered healthcare professionals to further their careers within the expanding Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network.

The NDN is an established organisation funded by the Chief Scientist Office. Our primary aim is to support and facilitate the conduct and delivery of clinical trials in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases within the NDN portfolio.

We are seeking a forward-thinking, compassionate professional to join an internationally significant clinical trial in Parkinson’s disease.

This post is an exciting opportunity to be able to contribute to the LRRK2 Investigative Therapeutics Exchange (LITE) study, a global initiative funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation and led locally by Dr Esther Sammler at the University of Dundee. The LITE trial aims to deepen our understanding of the LRRK2 gene and its role in Parkinson’s disease, with the ultimate goal of identifying new therapeutic targets.

The post will involve coordination of the study, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of the trial at the Ninewells site. The post holder’s key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Participant recruitment and follow-up
* Collection and processing of study samples (blood, urine, and assisting with lumbar punctures and skin biopsies)
* Accurate data collection and entry
* Liaising with multidisciplinary teams and international collaborators
* Supporting the administrative and regulatory aspects of the study

Experience working with individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and familiarity with clinical research procedures would be advantageous, but not essential, full training and support will be provided.

Applicants will have an understanding of research within the NHS, post registration clinical experience and evidence of professional development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is proven ability to be an effective team member as these posts involve working closely with both the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will also be able to work to achieve study targets and have strong organisational and IT skills.

This post offers the opportunity to develop new clinical skills, knowledge and professional skills in clinical research and in the management of clinical trials.
