Position title: Graduate Data Consultant
Salary: Starting salary £30,000
Contract type: Permanent contract with initial 12 month graduate programme.
Contract hours: Full-time - 40 hours per week
Location: Manchester or Cardiff city centre - hybrid role working in one of our offices.

What you’ll be doing
Initially you work through our mandatory training courses to familiarise yourself with the platforms we regularly use.
Shadowing experienced data colleagues who will support you in your early transitioning into Butterfly Data, which may include a range of work across the data disciplines.
Receive coaching from the academy groups to help decide which of the main data disciplines you would like to specialise in: data analysis, data engineering, data science or data management.
You will undertake a variety of projects with clients, providing technical data solutions for a broad range of challenges, helping organisations address real world problems.
You will develop a good understanding of data structures, database systems and procedures using a range of analytical tools, methods and systems.
Obtain insights into the key business processes of a data consultancy, you will have the opportunity to be involved within various internal departments.
Opportunities to extend your learning which may include attending networking events and conferences across the UK, alongside our data consultants giving you a taste of what it's like to collaborate with industry experts, expand your professional network, and stay at the forefront of cutting‑edge trends!

Proven capability of working with data as demonstrated in previous work or academic experience.
Be inquisitive and logical with a creative approach to problem solving.
Ability to work independently, take responsibility and use your initiative.
You need to be confident, thorough and organised; communicating effectively and professionally with a range of people in secure working environments.
Ideally a proven capability of demonstrating technological competency in using a tool or programming language of your choice.
Desire to develop continuously and learn new skills.
UK resident or have the right to work in the UK.
A numerate or technical degree, 2:1 and above.
Lived in the UK for the past 5 years - this being an essential eligibility criteria to obtain a Security Clearance via UK Security Vetting.
Willingness to undergo UK Security Vetting.
The Interview process is made up of 3 rounds:
Remote, 30 minutes assessing suitability for the role, no preparation required.
Second Round Interview - Jan 2026
In person interview in Cardiff or Manchester, assessing technical capabilities and how you would perform in the role - no live coding exercises.
Final Round Interview - Feb 2026
In person interview in Cardiff or Manchester, presenting a data related project to a senior member of staff.
