We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected regional civil engineering and highways contractor with decades of experience delivering infrastructure projects across the South West.
The business specialises in highways construction, maintenance, Section 278 works, drainage, surfacing, public realm improvements, and infrastructure upgrades, operating across both local authority frameworks and private developments. Known for its strong self-delivery capability and hands-on management approach, the company continues to secure long-term highways schemes throughout the region.
Due to continued growth and a secured pipeline of work, they are seeking an experienced Highways Site Agent to oversee projects from planning through to completion.
The Role
As Site Agent, you will take full operational responsibility for the delivery of highways schemes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget.
You will be managing both direct labour and subcontract teams, coordinating works across all aspects of highways construction including:

Section 278 works

Carriageway construction and resurfacing
*
Drainage installation and upgrades
*
Kerbing, footways and public realm works
*
Traffic management coordination
*
Utility coordination and service avoidance
This is a leadership role requiring strong organisation, communication, and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities

Full site management of highways projects

Programme planning and resource allocation

Management of self-delivery teams and subcontractors

Ensuring strict compliance with health & safety regulations

Liaising with clients, local authorities and stakeholders

Monitoring budgets and supporting commercial reporting

Ensuring works are delivered to specification and quality standards

Maintaining accurate site documentation and reporting
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways schemes
*
Strong knowledge of highways construction methods and standards
*
Experience working in self-delivery environments
*
SMSTS – Essential
*
Valid CSCS Card – Essential
