Job Overview
Facilities Manager – Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services. Manage school sites to ensure efficient operations, contractual compliance, and health & safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Provide facilities management control and support to school sites, ensuring contractual and statutory compliance.
* Support the Account Manager in delivering contractual obligations and client expectations.
* Monitor and report on service delivery performance monthly or as requested.
* Manage budgets to achieve contract profitability while maintaining high service quality.
* Lead and support teams in operational delivery, including SLA guidance, preventive maintenance planning, and project lifecycle management.
* Maintain contract administration, record‑keeping and audit records during site visits.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, assist with audits, and maintain client interface on safety issues.
* Coordinate with support functions, specialists and the Business Development Team to demonstrate service excellence.
* Conduct team meetings, produce monthly and ad‑hoc reports, and provide performance feedback to the Account Manager.
* Act as the Authority/SPV point of contact and liaise with school representatives.
* Validate helpdesk work, monitor hours, investigate complaints, and close out issues.
* Manage staff recruitment, development, performance appraisals and retention in line with HR policy.
* Ensure contractors have appropriate DBS clearance and that safeguarding policies are adhered to.
Qualifications
* Relevant education and qualification in Facilities Management or a related field.
* Proven experience with PFI/education contracts and complex environments.
* Demonstrable success in compliance, stakeholder relationships and operational excellence.
* Strong understanding of utilities, lifecycle management and commercial awareness.
* Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
* Capability to work independently, drive improvement and adapt to change.
* People‑management experience and coaching ability.
* Computer literacy – Outlook, Excel, Word.
