What does a Lead Engineer (Fulfilment) do?
As the Lead Engineer, you will be central to building world-class products for Love2shop. Your focus will be on technical execution and decision-making within the product team. You will be responsible for designing, contributing to, and shaping the technical direction of the fulfilment team, setting the software engineering strategy for both internal and external delivery. You will lead the team in designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining integrations and applications in a fast-paced, cloud-first, agile environment, driving technical excellence and team capability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Product Owner to translate the strategic plan of the Fulfilment products into technical deliverables.
2. Design, develop, and maintain scalable technical solutions supporting business growth through fulfilment services.
3. Contribute to architectural decisions across initiatives, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
4. Design features with resilience, security, and service management in mind.
5. Translate technical concepts into understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.
6. Evaluate new technologies and approaches to enhance software engineering.
7. Ensure systems are performant, reliable, and meet all requirements.
8. Oversee the application lifecycle, quality assurance, database engineering, and deployment processes.
9. Shape the team’s working methods in collaboration with project management and product teams.
10. Ensure third-party software deliveries meet quality standards and company expectations.
11. Ensure compliance with PCI–DSS and relevant standards.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience leading design and development in a financial services environment.
* Knowledge of emerging technologies and R&D capabilities.
* Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
* Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
* Knowledge of various tech stacks and their appropriate application.
* Experience fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
* Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs (JSON REST, SOAP).
* Leadership experience within an internal IT department.
* Over 3 years in a lead development role, familiar with object-oriented languages, MVC frameworks, SQL databases.
* Strong experience with TDD.
