Overview
Leader Education are recruiting a Mental Health/Behaviour Support Classroom Assistant to work at a school in South Shields specialising in supporting students aged 5-16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Students may have been permanently excluded from their previous schools and may present challenging behaviours. The school emphasises motivating students to ensure an engaging curriculum and a successful transition into the next stage of their lives. The latest Ofsted report for this school was rated "Good".
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30pm. This is a long-term position, subject to a successful trial.
Responsibilities
* Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and students who present challenging behaviour.
* Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
* Support safeguarding and promote the welfare of all children.
Qualifications and Skills
* An enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
* Experience with children or young people exhibiting SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient, compassionate personality with the ability to support students in the classroom.
* Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Adaptability and commitment to meeting diverse student needs.
