About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated coaches to lead ourMini Champs Athletics Programme, designed for children aged5–8 years. This long-standing programme has been running since and serves as a vital pathway intoJunior Jets (8+)and ultimatelyWakefield Harriers Athletics Club. With weekly sessions attractingaround 10 participants, Mini Champs plays a key role in developing young talent and promoting physical activity in our community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver high-quality athletics coaching sessions for children aged 5–8.
2. Ensure sessions are structured, safe, and enjoyable, following national guidelines.
3. Supervise activities to maintain safety and prevent misuse of facilities or equipment.
4. Assemble and dismantle equipment safely before and after sessions.
5. Complete administrative tasks such as registers and performance records.
6. Promote positive behaviour and encourage progression into Junior Jets and Wakefield Harriers.
Essential Requirements
7. Leading Athletics qualification(or willingness to obtain – training provided).
8. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
9. Ability to motivate and engage young children in sport.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Physically capable of demonstrating athletics activities.
